Consultancy services include initial evaluation of requirements or specifications, auditing current capabilities and configurations, producing both high-level and low-level designs for new roll-outs and evaluating and recommending equipment and configurations for deployment across many network architectures, disciplines and protocols.

Optical

Capabilities include design, deployment, configuration and operation, including wave division multiplexing technologies (CWDM/DWDM) for backhaul networks and Passive Optical Network technologies (PON) for FTTx applications for wide-area, metropolitan-area (city/business parks) and local-area (in-building) scenarios.

Dark fibre procurement, fibre characteristic specification, civils/outside-plant (OSP) design and planning, component specification, performance monitoring systems (OSS), fault finding/rectification and capacity management.

Routing and switching

Many years experience in the design, deployment, configuration and operation of Layer2 Ethernet/Carrier Ethernet and Layer3 IPv4/IP6 networks, incorporating MPLS, ERP, MSTP for resilient layer 2 networks, multicast & routed multicast for IPTV distribution.

Routing protocols include (BGP/OSPF), tunneling and encryption (PPP, GRE, L2TP, IPsec) and IP Transit and Peering for Internet connectivity.

Design, deployment, configuration and operation of both in band and out of band standalone management networks (DCN).

Platform and security

Industry leading experience in the design, deployment, configuration and operation of application platforms including end user Authentication (AAA), IPv4 and IPv4 address assignment (DHCP/DHCPv6, PD/RA, PPPoE via Radius/AD), recursive & authoritative DNS, Network management platforms (CLI/SNMP), Network device administration and audit (TACACS) Device provisioning (ACS) and configuration management solutions

Design, deployment, configuration and operation of Layer 2-7 security appliances (firewall) including rule set identification, DDOS mitigation and remote access and Layer 3 access control lists for IP level security

Radio and Microwave

Edge Networks have many years experience in the design, deployment, configuration and operation of wireless networks, including unlicensed and lite-licensed microwave/millimetre wave systems for point-to-point (backhaul) applications such as high capacity backhaul, campus connectivity, mobile backhaul, military applications and point-to-multipoint (access) applications such as subscriber access and smart city connectivity across metropolitan, rural and harsh environments.

Services include wireless planning and surveying, equipment specification and configuration, deployment planning, performance monitoring systems (OSS), fault finding/rectification and capacity management. After deployment Edge Networks provide training and offer a range of support options.
